Liquid Nitrogen is a colorless and odorless cryogenic liquid
Produced in-house from Gas Africa’s ASU plant, as a by-product of Oxygen production, it is commonly supplied in dewers to the medical field – specifically for sample storage in IVF clinics
Other more industrial uses include:
- Freezing and transporting food products
- Acting as a coolant for superconductors, vacuum pumps, and other materials and equipment
- Cryotherapy in removal of skin abnormalities
With a boiling point of -196C, Liquid Nitrogen must be handled with extreme care as if handled inappropriately may cause frostbite and cryogenic burns
