Liquid Nitrogen

Because we do it right

Liquid Nitrogen is a colourless and odourless cryogenic liquid, produced in-house at Gas Africa’s Air Separation Unit (ASU) as a by-product of oxygen production. This enables us to maintain strict quality control and a reliable supply chain.

Within the medical field, Liquid Nitrogen is commonly supplied in dewars, particularly for sample storage in IVF and fertility clinics, where maintaining ultra-low temperatures is critical to preserving biological materials.

Beyond healthcare, Liquid Nitrogen is widely used in industrial and scientific applications, including:

- Freezing and transportation of food products

- Acting as a coolant for superconductors, vacuum pumps, and specialised equipment

- Use in cryotherapy, including the removal of skin abnormalities

With a boiling point of –196°C, Liquid Nitrogen must be handled with extreme care. Improper handling may result in frostbite or cryogenic burns, and Gas Africa emphasises strict adherence to safety procedures during handling, storage, and transport.
