Argon

Because we do it right

As a complement to its range of industrial gases, Gas Africa supplies Grade 5 High-Purity Argon, a colourless and odourless inert gas that makes up approximately 0.93% of the Earth’s atmosphere. Argon is extracted through a controlled air separation process using an Air Separation Unit (ASU), ensuring consistent quality and high purity.

Gas Africa recognises the importance of providing this chemically inert gas, which plays a critical role in a wide range of industrial applications, including:

- Steel manufacturing, where Argon is used in the decarburisation of stainless steel

- Stainless steel welding, particularly in TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding

- Metal fabrication, where Argon is used as a shielding gas in arc welding, root shielding, and plasma cutting

In addition to pure Argon, Gas Africa also supplies Argon-based gas mixtures, including 80:20 Argon to Carbon Dioxide blends, commonly used in MIG welding applications.
