Medical Air
Medical Air, a colorless, odorless and tasteless gas, is composed of 78% Nitrogen and 21% Oxygen, and has a similar composition to the air that we breathe with traces of chemicals including Carbon Dioxide, Argon, Hydrogen and water vapor, but minus the impurities such as dust
Otherwise known as Compressed Air, it is supplied in high pressure cylinders and used predominately in ICU and NICU for reducing the concentration of Oxygen flow into lungs and body tissue of patients
More specifically, Medical Air applications include:
- Being a carrier for inhaled medication and anesthetic agents
- Providing clean air in ventilators and incubators
- Use within surgical operations and procedures while patients are under anesthesia
