Medical Air

Because we do it right

Medical Air is a colourless, odourless, and tasteless gas composed of approximately 78% Nitrogen and 21% Oxygen, closely mirroring the composition of atmospheric air. It also contains trace amounts of gases such as Carbon Dioxide, Argon, Hydrogen, and water vapour, but is purified to remove contaminants and impurities such as dust and particulates, making it suitable for clinical use.

Also referred to as Compressed Medical Air, it is supplied in high-pressure cylinders and is predominantly used in Intensive Care Units (ICU) and Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU). Medical Air plays a vital role in reducing the concentration of oxygen delivered to the lungs and body tissues, helping clinicians safely control oxygen therapy.

Common applications of Medical Air include:

- Acting as a carrier gas for inhaled medications and anaesthetic agents

- Providing clean, reliable air supply for ventilators and incubators

- Supporting surgical procedures and operations while patients are under anaesthesia
