Compressed Air
Compressed Air is atmospheric air that has been pressurised and consists of approximately 78% Nitrogen, 21% Oxygen, and 1% trace gases, including Carbon Dioxide, Methane, Argon, Hydrogen, and Helium.
Supplied in high-pressure cylinders, compressed air is commonly used in industrial applications where, when combined with a fuel gas, it produces a low-temperature flame suitable for brazing and soldering operations.
Although it is technically air, compressed air presents inherent hazards due to the high pressure involved. Cylinders may rupture or explode if exposed to excessive heat and must therefore be stored in well-ventilated areas, away from ignition sources and direct sunlight.
In the event of a fire involving compressed air cylinders, standard fire-fighting measures may be applied, including the use of water from a safe, protected distance, in line with established safety procedures
